Using the Forum

There are six Categories (that may change!) plus the Board Statistics and a few other things on the index page. Guests and unactivated members see only five of them.

Each Category contains at least one Forum, and each Forum may contain any number of Sub-Forums.

Categories don’t have Threads (i.e. Topics) but Forums and Sub-Forums do.

That’s a lot of stuff for one little index page, and that’s why each Category has a + or a - sign in its top right corner. Click that little box to expand a Category and see the Forums etc. inside, or to reduce it to a simple blue bar that takes little screen space.

If you get too much clutter on a page, the Return to Top and Return to Content buttons at the bottom of the page can be helpful!

The Lite (Archive) Mode button is a good one. Give it a try!

You can always get back to the index page by clicking the logo at the top of each page.

Registered and activated users can post new threads and reply to existing ones. There are three ways to reply:

1. Use the Quick Reply box that you find after a post. It’s fast and simple, but doesn’t allow any fancy formatting etc..

2. Use the NEW REPLY icon to open up a reply window with lots of formatting options. You can include URLs, images, etc..

3. The REPLY icon and the one next to it with the green + both allow you to quote the post (or a part of it) at the top of your reply. We’ll let you explore how they work for yourself.

Quoting is a Good Thing but please don’t overdo it by quoting whole posts! Edit them down to just enough to give your reply the right context.

Only Administrators and Moderators can change things at the Category, Forum, and Sub-Forum levels. So if you’ve got an idea for a new one, send a Private Message to one of the Admins!

Don’t forget the  View New Posts and View Today’s Posts buttons just below the logo - they’re the easiest way to check up on things without having to open every Category!

If you’re not sure where to post a new thread, NOW>POST HERE! is always a good place. Sooner or later, Forum Management will move the thread to where it best belongs. That’s not something that members should have to worry about.
