From what I can gather from people that know him, a couple of years ago he started asking "What is shibari?", and then decided he would write a book on it, learning as he went. So in 2 or so years he has come a long way. I'll withhold any other judgment until I have seen his book.

I've pre-ordered this for myself. I'll see what I think of the books when I get them but I've corresponded with Doug a bit and he seems a nice guy with a real enthusiasm for the subject. And I believe that he's a Arisue Go fan.

It does seem to be a mix of shibari and neo-bari but looks nice.

He was at ShibariCon a few years ago. They were giving away his first book as a prize for some event. File under irrelevant, but my wife thought he was quite good looking and really wanted to tie him up - lol. She won one of the books too.

indeed, seems a nice guy to chat with... looking forwarde to receive the books, however, they won't be shipped for another 3 weeks...
